Some of our online services, including our Websites, emails, and other electronic communications to you, use technologies like cookies, web beacons, device, or other identifiers and local storage to provide a seamless experience. Sometimes we refer to these features collectively as cookies or “Online Tracking Technologies.”  To the extent our Online Tracking Technologies lead to the processing of your personal information, details about how we use that personal information and your rights over that personal information are discussed in our  Privacy Policy.

Our Cookie Policy explains the different types of cookies we use and how you can control them. We hope that it helps you understand, and feel more confident about, the cookies on our Websites. We may change this policy from time to time, so please review it regularly. To learn more about the other ways we use information that we collect about you, please see our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files which are downloaded to your browser or device when you visit a website. We use them to make our Websites work, or work more efficiently. Our websites read and write these files so that they can recognize you and remember important information that makes your use of our Websites more convenient.

For example, cookies let you stay you signed into your Wahl account, even on different devices.  They also help to keep our Websites secure by supporting and enabling security features and detecting unsafe activity. Cookies can also provide localized experiences (e.g., by displaying the site in your preferred language) and can remember your preferences and settings so that you don’t have provide them to us every time you visit. We also use cookies to understand how people are using our services, to deliver advertising to other websites, and to find out if our emails have been read and if you find them useful.

What types of cookies are used on our Websites and what do we use them for?

Our Websites use both first party cookies (which we set) and third party cookies (which we don’t set and cannot access). Some cookies are temporary and disappear when you close your browser or turn off your computer. These are called “session cookies.” Other cookies remain on your computer, even after it’s been turned off or you’ve closed your browser. These are called “persistent cookies.”

Below are the different types of cookies, how we use them, and the choices you have.  A more specific Cookie List is listed below.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies let you use the different parts of our Websites.  We use them to make sure our digital services work. Because the services you’ve asked for can’t be provided without them, they’re always on when you visit our Websites. You can’t turn off Strictly Necessary cookies unless you change your browser settings.

Functional Cookies

Functional cookies enable us to personalize and provide enhanced functionality on our Websites.  For example, they allow us to remember the choices you make on our Websites, whether we have asked you to participate in a promotion or opportunity, and your purchases so that we can track your orders and display them in your account.

Where required by law, functional cookies will be used only on the Sites where you have given your consent to their use. You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the “Cookie Policy & Preferences” tool available in the footer of our Websites.

Performance Cookies

Performance cookies teach us about how people use our Websites, help us make sure that our Websites are working properly, and let us know when we need to fix any glitches. Because these cookies provide us with analytical information on how our site and services are performing and how we can improve our site and services, we sometimes call them “Analytics Cookies.”

Performance cookies show us which are the most frequently visited pages on the Site, allow us to see the overall patterns of usage on the Site, help us record any difficulties you have with the Site and show us whether our advertising is effective or not. For example, Google Analytics collects information about how visitors use our site, including the number of visitors to the site, where visitors have come to the site from and the pages they visited. We use this information to compile reports and to help us improve the site. To learn about Google’s privacy practices visit https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. In addition to exercising preferences specific to the Websites, you can manage Google Analytics by downloading the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser add-on.

Advertising Cookies

We and our service providers may use targeting or advertising cookies to deliver ads that we believe are more relevant to you and your interests. For example, we may use targeting or advertising cookies to limit the number of times you see the same ads and to help measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. These cookies remember what you have looked at and we may share this information with other organizations.

You can always change your preferences by visiting the link in the footer of our Websites.  For more information about third-party advertising networks and similar entities that use these technologies, see www.aboutads.info/consumers, and to opt-out of such ad networks’ and services’ advertising practices, go to  www.aboutads.info/choices. Opting out of third party targeting or advertising cookies does not necessarily mean that you will not see our advertising on third party websites, only that this advertising will not be targeted to you through the use of third party cookies.

How do third parties use cookies on the site?

In some circumstances, we may work with third parties to provide services on our Websites. These third-parties, including advertisers, may use their own cookies to collect information about your activities on our Site.  They use this information to learn about your interests in order to show you ads that they believe you will want to see, based on the content you have viewed. Third-party advertisers may also use this information to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements.

Please see the Cookie List below for more information about third-party cookies.

How do I control cookies and tracking?

You can choose how you interact with our cookies, as described in this policy.  On your first visit to our Websites, you’ll see a cookie preference banner, which will tell you about the types of cookies we use. The preference tool will allow you to decide whether you would like to accept only Strictly Necessary cookies, or whether to accept Functional, Performance, or Advertising cookies as well. You can update your choices at any time by visiting the Cookie Policy & Preferences link in the web site footer and clicking on the “Edit Cookie Preferences” button.

More generally, you may be able to change the settings to have your browser refuse certain cookies or notify you before accepting cookies.  To do so, please follow the instructions provided by your browser which are usually located within the “Help,” “Tools” or “Edit” tab.  Some third parties also provide the ability to refuse their cookies directly by clicking on an opt-out link.

You can also find more information about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set on your device and how to manage and delete them, at www.allaboutcookies.org and www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Stopping all cookies might mean you can’t access some of our Websites and other services or that some of them might not work properly for you.  For example, you might not be able to access your profile/account and certain personalized content. Removing all cookies from your computer could also affect your subsequent visits to our Websites, by requiring that, for example, you enter your login name when you return to that website. Please note that even if you exercise any of the choices described above, you will still see ads, but they will not be based upon the information collected through these tracking technologies and therefore not necessarily relevant to your interests.

Do-Not-Track Signals

If you have enabled privacy controls on your browser (such as a plugin), we will construe that as an opt-out of all cookies.
